ABOUT MARMOT VILLAGE

Little moments.
A deeper connection.

Munching, stretching, sleeping and simply being themselves. Step into the marmots’ everyday world and get to know the animals behind the photographs.

Their comfort comes first.

Marmot Village is a place to observe marmots while supporting their care and a secure living environment. Marmots belong to the squirrel family. Their small paws, rounded bodies and expressive faces are only the beginning: each has its own habits and personality.

We do not offer petting or holding. A sleeping marmot can keep sleeping. We invite you to observe from a comfortable distance, without asking the animals to perform or react.

  • Respect each animal’s pace, including time to rest.
  • Consider temperature, humidity, light and other sources of stimulation.
  • Monitor individual health, food intake and weight, and respond to changes.

Let “cute” be the beginning.

We hope a visit leads to a better understanding of marmots’ lives, the challenges of caring for them and the responsibility of bringing an animal into a home. Rescue and care are the foundation of our work.

Plan your first visit.

Choose your location, date, time and guests, then pay online. We recommend the 60-minute visit, which includes a souvenir and one drink; at Kichijoji, the drink is a café voucher for use after your visit. Shorter 20-minute visits are also available without a drink or souvenir.

Regular visits are for ages 6 and up. Children from age 6 through the final year of primary school (Grade 6 in Japan) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Book a place for every adult and child attending. We may check children’s ages on arrival.

For younger children, check Osaka Family Day. The marmots you see and their activities depend on the location, their health and their routines.
