BEFORE YOU BOOK

A few things to know.

How do I book, and which time zone should I use?

Select a date, start time and number of guests on the booking page, then complete online payment. Your booking is confirmed only after payment. Visit times are Japan Standard Time (JST, UTC+9). Keep your confirmation email and check the location and start time.

If your date is missing from standard booking, also check the last-minute booking page. The two pages cover different booking periods; the calendar shows current availability.

Can children visit?

Regular visits are for ages 6 and up. Children from age 6 through the final year of primary school (Grade 6 in Japan) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Book a place for every adult and child attending. We may check children’s ages on arrival.

For children under 6, see Osaka Family Day. Kichijoji’s regular visits do not admit children under 6.

Can I touch or feed the marmots?

Enjoy watching the marmots eat, rest and go about their day. Petting and holding are not offered. Please do not chase, wake or crowd them. A feeding activity for an extra fee may be offered during 60-minute visits only when staff announce it and the marmots’ health allows it. It is not guaranteed and is not available during 20-minute visits. Do not bring food for the animals.

What should I bring?

All guests change into the indoor footwear provided. Bring socks: bare feet are not allowed. Socks are available to buy on site. At Kichijoji and Nakano, stockings or thin tights also require socks. Please speak to staff before changing footwear.

Avoid perfume and strongly scented hair products. Please do not visit after drinking alcohol.

Can I change or cancel?

Cancel or request a change no later than 72 hours before your visit starts. Cancellations made by that deadline receive a full refund. After the deadline, date/time changes and refunds are generally unavailable, including same-day cancellations and no-shows. Use the cancellation or rescheduling button in your confirmation email, or contact us before the deadline. Late arrival does not extend your visit; a very late arrival may prevent admission.

Can I take photos?

Photos and videos are welcome, including for social media. Keep the flash off and respect other visitors’ privacy. Ask permission before making another visitor or a staff member the main subject of a photo or publication. Livestreaming inside the facilities is not permitted.

Can I visit with a wheelchair or limited mobility?

Please contact us before booking with your preferred location so we can discuss stairs, entrance width and the layout. Osaka’s second-floor entrance is reached by outside stairs. Wheelchair users must visit with a companion; if physical assistance is needed, the companion must provide it. Staff cannot provide physical assistance on the day. Space is limited and views of the marmots may be restricted. Confirm access with us before reserving.
