Marmot Village began with rescue and care. We invite you to observe the marmots while respecting their health, space and daily routines. We hope your visit helps you understand these animals and how to treat them with care.

BEFORE YOU VISIT

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, for the marmot area. Choose your location, date, time and number of visitors, then complete online payment to confirm your booking. At Kichijoji, the first-floor café and gift shop and the daytime second-floor art lounge can be visited without a reservation.
Can children visit?

Regular visits are for ages 6 and up. Children up to the final year of primary school (Grade 6 in Japan) must come with a parent or guardian. For regular visits, book a place for every adult and child attending. If you are bringing a child under 6, use Osaka's separate Family Day booking page and check its dates, child fees and booking instructions.

Osaka Family Day →
Can I touch, hold or feed the marmots?
Please do not touch, pick up or chase the marmots. Enjoy watching them at their own pace. A feeding activity may be offered for an extra fee, but only when staff announce it and the marmots' health allows it. Follow staff instructions and do not bring your own food for them. Feeding is not available during 20-minute visits.
Can I take photos and videos?
Yes, and you are welcome to share them on social media. Turn off the flash and be mindful of other visitors in the background. If you want to photograph or share images of another visitor or a staff member as the main subject, ask for their permission first. Livestreaming inside the facilities is not permitted.
What should I wear or bring?
Wear socks: everyone changes into indoor footwear on arrival, and bare feet are not allowed. Please avoid perfume and strongly scented products, and do not visit after drinking alcohol. Check your booked location and its address before travelling. The booking page has further information on what to bring and how to prepare.
Can I change or cancel my booking?
For a full refund, cancel no later than 72 hours before your visit starts. The same deadline applies to date/time changes. Use the cancellation or rescheduling buttons in your confirmation email, or contact us before the deadline if you need help. After the deadline, changes and refunds are generally not available. Arriving late does not extend your visit. Check the booking page's terms before paying.
Can I visit if I use a wheelchair or have limited mobility?

Contact us before booking and tell us which location you wish to visit, so we can discuss stairs, entrance width and the layout. Osaka's second-floor entrance requires stairs. Wheelchair users must come with a companion. If you need physical assistance, your companion must provide it; staff cannot assist on the day. Space is limited and your view of the marmots may be restricted. Please confirm access with us before reserving.
